Pirate Birthday Party

By Kayla Knudson

Ahoy, mateys! Swashbuckling good times await all young pirates brave enough to join Betty Crocker’s high seas adventure.

The search for riches and gold starts with a treasure-map pizza and ends with sacks of snacks for all—plus stops along the way for Jolly Roger root beer and pirate cake. So put on ye eye patch, and let’s party!

Pirate Party Food

With a watermelon pirate ship and pizza-turned-treasure map, you can bet our easy, kid-approved party menu will please every pirate it meets.

Pirate Party Décor

Set the scene by first raiding and pillaging what you have on hand. A picture swapped out of a frame makes for an excellent (and inexpensive!) menu board while patterned paper glued to wooden dowels transform an ordinary watermelon into a proper pirate ship.

For other party details we swear by the dollar store—where we picked up red paper lanterns—and the craft store, where we found our fish net and drawstring favor bags.

Pirate Party Favors

We love the idea of setting out drawstring bags with a variety of treasures—think chocolate coins, caramel corn, Gushers, malt balls, Rolos—and letting kids help themselves to the booty.

Betty’s Birthday Party Checklist

Stay organized and make sure you don’t miss a single detail with Betty’s to-dos and reminders for hosting the best birthday ever.
