If you like entertaining, but are strapped for time (who isn’t?), your slow cooker can your best friend. Making an appetizer like this kicky queso in your crock allows you to prep other dishes (or hide those pesky piles of laundry) while you get ready for guests to arrive. But best part about most slow-cooker dips is that they’re practically effortless to whip up. Simply throw the ingredients in your slow cooker, stir a couple of times, and voilà—a delicious hot appetizer is ready to party.

This dip uses a few pantry staples (garlic, Green Giant Niblets Frozen Corn and pickled jalapenos) plus cheese and bacon. If you can’t find shredded pepper jack cheese called for in the recipe below, you may need to shred a block yourself. But don’t distress, a block of cheese is usually cheaper than its shredded counterpart.

I served the finished dip with fresh lime, which adds an irresistible tang. If you’d like to kick up the spice level, add a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce. I think you’re going to love this dip, and I bet your guests will, too!
