Easy Peanut Butter and Jelly Crepes Recipe
Who says that good old PBJ is just for kids? This French take on the American classic will delight the young and young at heart.
If you are like most people, you grew up on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The only real question is whether you are a fan of grape jelly, strawberry preserves, raspberry jam…or some other variety.
PBJ is an American classic that many kids (and adults!) love. But that fabulous flavor combination we fell for as kids doesn’t have to be limited to sandwiches on square white bread. Want to give it a fresh, upscale makeover? Try this: Ditch the bread and serve your PBJ on easy homemade crepes instead. Crepes are a lot like pancakes, except they are thinner, lighter and really flexible.
Here are a few tips to making incredible crepes every time:
- Use a nonstick pan. It will make flipping them a breeze.
- Be sure the pan is good and hot when you add the batter. That way, the crepes start cooking instantly and are easy to turn over.
- When it comes to flipping a crepe, you need to figure out what works for you–a thin spatula or a flick of the wrist and pan. I prefer to flip crepes by lifting the edges with a spatula and then turning with my fingers.
- Since crepes cook very fast, they need your full attention when making them. The good news? The whole batch will be done in about 10 minutes.
