"Make It With Your Eyes Closed" Strawberry Truffle Pie Recipe
Want a strawberry pie that will have friends and family saying, "OMG!"? This is the recipe! Plus, no one will believe how easy it is.
Want to make mealtime (or snack time!) extra special? Serve up a delicious, fresh, sweet berry dessert. But what’s hot these days? If you listen to the 2011 food predictions, pie is where it's at right now. It’s even being called the new cupcake. And to that I say, “Yay!”
What’s not to like about pie? It’s easy to make. There are so many flavor and texture variations. And, perhaps best of all, it’s so incredibly forgiving–unlike piping frosting onto cupcakes.
Here are a few tips to make fabulous pies:
Premade crusts. Graham cracker pie crusts are easy to use and don’t require baking. If you love the taste of a flaky pie crust, Pillsbury® Refrigerated Pie Crust is ready to pop in the oven.
No-cook fruits. Not all fruit pies need to be baked. Some, like this Strawberry Truffle Pie, are terrific with uncooked fruit, which lends a fabulous texture to the dish.
Twists on the traditional. Apple pie is a classic, but don’t be afraid to make it your own. Vary the pie topping (a crumble is wonderful) or add additional flavor with spices.
Stack up the flavor. Layering flavors is a great way to make a pie special. Try a layer of cheesecake or caramel topped with your favorite fruit or truffle filling.
Finishing touches. Whipped cream or ice cream are fantastic for finishing off a slice of pie. But choose a neutral variety, like vanilla, so the flavors don't clash or overshadow the pie.
Now, who’s ready for a slice?
