A fun and festive take on hot cocoa, this simple mousse recipe will impress your guests. But you don’t have to tell them how easy it is to make!
I love to take a classic, like hot chocolate, and make something new out of it. I have tried several versions of a hot chocolate cookie but wanted to prepare a more elegant dessert with a hot chocolate mix.
This recipe could not be any simpler to make, but it is the presentation that takes it to a whole new level. I like to serve it in small cappuccino cups with a dollop of freshly whipped cream, a sprinkling of cinnamon and a cinnamon stick stirrer…just like the real thing! When I placed this dessert in front of my family, they were giddy with excitement. This is a hard group to impress, so I knew that I had a winner!
Another thing that I love about this recipe is that it can be made a few hours ahead of time. When I am having guests for dinner, I want to be able to enjoy my time with them. I prepare as much as I can in advance, so that I get to enjoy my meal as well. This recipe can be made in the morning and then left in the refrigerator to set up.
You can vary this recipe by using different kinds of hot chocolate mix. White chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, mint…any variety will be delicious!
