5-Ingredient Very Berry Cheerios™ Bars

By Cindy Rahe
Created March 8, 2017
So delicious they could be a dessert and yet with whole grains and real fruit mixed in, these bars totally count as breakfast.
Very Berry Cheerios™ Bars

Everyone loves a gooey, marshmallow cereal treat. They’re sweet and crunchy with just the right amount of chewiness. And bonus: anyone can make them. While the basic treat uses rice cereal, this recipe uses the new Very Berry Cheerios™ cereal. The bright berry flavor plays nicely with the sweetness of the marshmallows and the drizzle of white chocolate balances the tart berry flavor.

These no-bake bars offer a delightful contrast of crunchy and gooey, and sweet and tart in each bite. It’s the snack your kids will beg for after school, the grab-and-go cereal bar for your morning rush, and the no-bake dessert your guests will be raving about at the potluck.

This recipe starts the way all cereal bars start—with a bag of fluffy marshmallows! The remaining ingredients include butter, Very Berry Cheerios™, freeze-dried berries and white chocolate chips.

Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large pot. Once the marshmallows have melted, quickly stir in the Very Berry Cheerios™ and one cup of berries. Stir until the cereal and berries are coated.

Press the cereal-marshmallow mixture into an 8x8 greased pan. Add reserved ½ cup of freeze-dried berries on top. Microwave the white chocolate baking chips until melted and drizzle generously over the bars.

Allow the bars to cool for at least two hours. You can also speed up the cooling time by placing the bars into the refrigerator for one hour. Slice the bars into squares and share!
