  Pasty

Like little turnovers, pasties are made by filling rolled pastry circles with a mixture of meat and vegetables, folding the pastry then sealing the edges and baking. They can be eaten plain or with gravy. Cornish pasties, the traditional version, are named for Cornwall, England, where pasties originated as a portable food for miners.
