Pasta, Ditali or Ditalini
Pasta cut into short segments resembling thimbles, with ditalini being a little bit thinner. Two types are available: lisci, or "smooth", approprate for soups and salads; and regati, meaning "grooved", which is good at capturing chunky sauces in its ridges. Typically this type of pasta is cooked in soups or served with a vegetable sauce.
