can I substitute applesauce for oil in Supermoist cake mix

That is a great question.  And the answer is:  yes, for some flavors. The following flavors/directions have been tested by the Betty Crocker Kitchens.  Happy baking!

 

·        Devil’s Food: 

o   1 ¼ cups water ½ cup applesauce and 3 eggs.

o   Mix according to directions on box.   

o   Bake at 350°F for about 39 minutes.  (37-41 minutes)

·        Yellow:

o   1 cup water, ½ cup applesauce and 3 eggs.

o   Mix according to directions on box.

o   Bake at 350°F for about 33 minutes. (31-35 minutes)

·        White (egg whites): 

o   1 ¼ cups water, 1/3 cup applesauce and 3 egg whites.

o   Mix according to directions on box.

o   Bake at 350°F for about 32 minutes.  (30-34 minutes)

·        White (whole eggs):

o   1 ¼ cups water, 1/3 cup applesauce and 3 whole eggs.

o   Mix according to directions on box.

o   Bake at 350°F for about 33 minutes.  (31-35 minutes)

·        Carrot: 

o   1 cup water, 2/3 cup applesauce and 3 eggs.

o   Mix according to directions on box.

o   Bake at 350°F for about 33 minutes. (31-35 minutes)
