Impossible Directions!

I LOVE Green Giant Steamers, especially the "Super Sweet Corn & Butter Sauce" product (YUM!) but I find that the Microwave Directions are impossible to do! Here's why: In step #1 it reads, "PLACE unopened bag standing up on microwavable plate. DO NOT TEAR OR CUT BAG."  Then in step #2 it reads, "MICROWAVE on High 4 to 6 minutes or until sauce chips are melted, and vegetables are thoroughly heated and tender....".  Now I ask you, how can a person know if the sauce chips are melted and the vegetables are thoroughly heated and tender? Step #1 says DO NOT TEAR OR CUT BAG (yes, it really does say that in bold capital letters), and the bag is opaque, so please explain to me HOW I am supposed to  comply with step #2! I have no problem microwaving the corn for 4 to 6 minutes, but I find it quite impossible to know if the sauce chips are melted and the veggies are heated!  LOL

Impossible Directions!

Xray_Rep, That is really funny,:-). Kinda like: don't open untill after reading the directions, directions on the inside!:-). That's a really good question for "ask The Betty Crocker Kitchens", :-). Lots of luck!

Impossible Directions!

I contacted Betty Crocker via Email, and (sadly) they essentially brushed me off with the following reply:

Before directions can be placed on the package, they are thoroughly tested in the Betty Crocker Kitchens, as well as in consumer test groups.  The end product is rated for flavor, color, texture and all the other qualities that go into development of a good product.  Our testing has shown the directions are correct as printed.

They also offerred me some coupons if I provide them my mailing address. I replied by telling them that I'm not interested in coupons, I just want my question answered! I suspect that they've never gotten a question quite like mine, and therefore don't know how to respond to it. I think it confused the heck out of them!!!  LOL
