Favorite Bisquick Recipes

I am looking for some ideas using bisquick.  Please share your favorite recipes or ways to use bisquick.

I have not had much luck with most of the recipes on the box of Bisquick.  I make the coffee cake/cinnamon rolls, biscuits and sometimes when I feel brave I'll give dumplings a shot.  I have tried several of the "impossible pie" recipes and have been dissapointed with all of them. 
So other than the items above the only thing I use it for is coating chicken when I bake it.

totally had to chuckle at that comment!!! but im going to do the chicken and dumplings tonight!!! i went with the quick chicken and dumpling recipe  and hope it comes out well.. wish me luck!!! copy and paste for quick link

Hi Mittens!  I betcha' you know what's coming, dontcha?  Could you please post your recipe for dumplings with chicken.  I got the chicken down, but do need a stock to make the dumplings?  Wow, it would be great to know how to make dumplings!  I guess I wasn't paying much attention in my home ec class, huh!  Thanks if you have the time.

hi everyone, repeating someone else, Brot: is the meat and water boiled together, which is what I use to make chicken n dumplings, and Stock, is when you add seasoning and or wegs. to the meat and water, which I usually use for soups. Makeing chicken broth is easy, after several years, :-). Just put the chicken in a pan a little wider and higher then the chicken and boit untill the chicken is doen or use canned, hahaha. . sometimes I strain the broth. Soem have you throu the fat away, but my in-laws ( from the south) say that you throu the flavor out when you do that. Bisquic dose have a good recipe for dumplings and how to cook them,:-). Lots of luck, :-) They are light and fouffy, if you want them heavy thenfollow the directions in reverse.

Hi Mittens,  I am a long time user of Bisquick and making dumplings.  They are very easy, just spoon the Bisquick into measuring cup and add milk.  Don't mix too long.  I usually make dumplings when I'm fixing with chicken.  Be sure to have enough liquid to cover the meat, but try not to drop dumplings in the liquid.  I know, it's kinda hard not to get them in the liquid.  It really won'd hurt anything.  I sometimes mix in a bit of sage and thyme so they taste a bit like dressing.  I also have found if I am generous with the  dry mix and the batter has a few dry spots, it thickens the liquid and the dumplings are great!  Good luck and you will do fine.  You just gotta jump in and do it!


I am looking for an old recipe for Chili Enchiladas that made the tortillas from Bisquick and cornmeal and used canned chili without beans.  They were really good and easy to make.  If anyone has the recipe please forward to me.  Thanks in advance!

Hi chicagosinger,  Dumpling recipe is on the box.  2 cups bisquick, 2/3 cup milk.  Combine and drop by tablespoon full onto chicken pieces, use two spoons and dip one in the broth and then scoop up the dough and push it off into the pot with the dry one.  anyway, Simmer, broth barely bubbling, for 10 minutes uncovered and 10 minutes covered.  When you put the lid on, don't take it off until the time is up.  Then I just turn off the burner and carry the pot to the table and uncover it there.  That's all there is to it.  You don't need stock or anything else.  I have been known to put some sage and thyme into the mix, sort of tastes like stuffing.  Try and find sage that isn't pulverized to a fine powder, the dumplings look dirty and the flavor seems to leave too!  Good luck.

Casper's Mom, I did an online search (Bisquick Chili Enchiladas) and found a Beef Enchilada recipe using Bisquick Tortillas.  Hope this helps.
