OFFICIAL CREATE A STIR SUDDENLY SALAD MIX RECIPE CONTEST RULES


WHAT IS THE CONTEST?

The Create a Stir Suddenly Salad Mix Recipe Contest encourages creative cooks to use Suddenly Salad® Mix to create great pasta salad recipes using additional ingredients and mix ins.

What can I win?

Grand Prize

One (1) recipe will be judged the Grand Prize Winner. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a check for $500 and a catered Labor Day BBQ dinner for up to 25 people (expected cost of catered BBQ event not to exceed Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per person). The BBQ will include a menu determined by Sponsor, and will consist of an entrée, side dishes and dessert for up to 25 people at a location of the winner’s choice, and shall include Sponsor arranged staff to set-up the BBQ, tables, and chairs. Sponsor will make reasonable efforts, in its discretion, to accommodate winner menu requests. Staff shall also coordinate food preparation, cooking and buffet (picnic) style table service. Location of BBQ event may be up to, but not exceeding, twenty-five (25) miles from the Grand Prize Winner’s home town; travel reimbursement for the Grand Prize Winner and their twenty-five (25) guests is not included in the Grand Prize Winner package (cost of the catered BBQ event not to exceed Seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750.00)) The Grand Prize winner will also receive a Suddenly Salad® Prize Pack as described in the Runners Up section below (with an estimated cost of Sixty-Seven dollars ($67.00). Total approximate value of grand prize is $One thousand, three hundred seventeen dollars ($1,317.00). In addition, the Grand Prize winning recipe may be featured on Suddenly Salad® Mix packages and will be featured on BettyCrocker.Com.

Runners Up

Nine (9) Runners Up will each be awarded a Suddenly Salad® Prize Pack including a salad bowl set, Betty Crocker apron and recipe box and cards. The nine winning runners-up recipes will also be featured on BettyCrocker.com. Approximate value of each Runner Up prize is Sixty Seven dollars ($67.00).

All contest prizes are not transferable, except at the sole discretion of General Mills. All entrants are eligible to receive only one prize. All taxes and other expenses, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winners. This contest is void where prohibited or otherwise regulated. All federal, state and local laws apply.


Who can enter?

You are eligible if you are 18 years of age or older as of June 30, 2009, and are a legal United States resident residing in one of the 50 United States or District of Columbia during the competition.

You are not eligible to enter and will be disqualified if:

  • You are a food professional, such as a chef, food writer or food home economist who creates recipes for pay.
  • You are an employee of General Mills, SkyBridge Marketing Services, or any of their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, or a member of the immediate family (parent, children, siblings, spouse, regardless of where they live) or same household of such employees (whether related or not).

How do I enter?

Submit your recipe that uses at least one Suddenly Salad® Mix product (Classic, Ranch & Bacon, Chipotle Ranch, Caesar Salad, Creamy Italian or Creamy Parmesean)

Online entry only. Go to www.BettyCrocker.com/CreateAStir, register to become a member of BettyCrocker.com (or log on if you are already a member) and submit your recipe using the online entry form, filling in all requested information completely. Recipes submitted online must include the eligible product(s) used. List each recipe ingredient with specific flavor, exact measurements or weights, and in the order used. Provide complete preparation directions including cooking time and temperature and type of cookware used (including exact dimensions or size). All recipes must utilize a cooking method of preparation. A recipe without a cooking step will not be accepted. All electronic entries must be received between 12:00 a.m. on June 30, 2009 and 11:59 p.m. on July 24, 2009 (central time). Each electronic entry should be submitted only once. Use of automated processes and devices to submit electronic entries are not permitted. Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any changes or effects caused to the entrant's computer system as a result of submitting electronic entries.

Only entries submitted via the website electronic form will be accepted. Entries submitted via facsimile or other express delivery services will NOT be accepted. Not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or otherwise undeliverable mail, or entries that cannot be processed due to phone, network, electronic or computer hardware or software failure, or technical failures of any kind. General Mills reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the contest or website or violates the Official Rules. In the case of duplicate recipes, the first entry received will be judged. By submitting your recipe, you accept all contest rules and agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which will be final. You also agree that your recipe becomes the sole property of General Mills, and General Mills reserves the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, transfer and use any or all of them, without compensation. By submitting recipe, you accept all recipe contest rules and agree to be bound by the judges’ decisions, which will be final. You also agree that your recipe will become the property of General Mills and General Mills reserves the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, and use any or all of them including for publicity, promotion, or advertising in any form of media, including websites, without compensation to you. This includes possible publishing of winner names and city/state of residence and winners photographs, in any form of media, including websites. Winners will be required to sign a release before receiving their prize.


How will recipes be judged?

All entries must meet the contest requirements. Recipe entries must be created by the contestant. Initial judging will be done by home economists for appropriate use of eligible products in addition to the criteria outlined below for the finalist recipes:


  • Taste
  • Creativity
  • Ease of Preparation
  • Overall Appeal

Judges will disqualify previously published recipes, such as but not limited to those in major cookbooks, in magazines, from food companies, on major food or recipe websites and winners in national contests, unless the recipe features changes considered significant by the judges. Finalists will be required to certify, on information or belief, that their recipes are their own creation and have not been published or publicized and have not won a national contest. General Mills will select and supply the ingredients and cooking equipment to be used during judging. General Mills reserves the right to substitute comparable products at its discretion. Final judging will be done by a panel of food experts selected in Sponsor’s discretion; such experts may be employees of Sponsor. Decision of the judges is final in all matters relating to this Contest.

Recipes may be submitted for any type of pasta salad. Some idea-starters for recipes are as follows:

  • Salads in 30 Minutes or Less

What happens if I win?

If you are the Grand Prize winner or a Runner Up, you will be notified on or about August 1, 2009 via e-mail. Grand Prize and Runners Up will be announced on or about August 17, 2009 at www.BettyCrocker.com/CreateAStir. The Grand Prize winner and Runners Up will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and a liability release/assignment of rights and return within eight (8) days of receipt of notification. Any Grand Prize Winner who does not comply with this requirement shall forfeit prize and an alternate Grand Prize Winner may be selected. Any Runner Up who does not comply with this requirement shall forfeit Runner Up status, and an alternate Runner Up may be selected. Except where prohibited by law, each Grand Prize winner or Runner Up will be required to sign a release giving General Mills and its nominees full rights to use the Grand Prize Winner’s or Runner Up’s name, likeness, image and voice for Contest related advertising and publicity, including such usage on the Internet. After accepting prize, the Grand Prize winner will not be eligible to win another Grand Prize in the next three subsequent Betty Crocker Suddenly Salad recipe contests. General Mills reserves the right to cancel this promotion at its sole discretion. Winners will be posted on the Internet at www.BettyCrocker.com/CreateAStir following the competition.
