sugar cookies frosting recipes

I am making sugar cookies shaped like pumpkins and I need a frosting recipe, I want the frosting to harden up a bit so the decorations dont smudge when we put the eyes , nose & mouth on them. I also want to be able to dye the frosting . If you have a recipe I would really appriceate it if you would share .  thank you...Angie

Hard Cookie Icing

2 egg whites
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Optional:
1/2 teaspoon extract (vanilla, almond, coconut, peppermint, butter, rum, etc.)
Food coloring

Beat whites until soft peaks form. Slowly add the powdered sugar and the cream of tartar. Add extract. If more than one color is needed, divide into bowls and stir in coloring. Cover bowls with damp towels to prevent icing from drying out. Frost cookies and allow icing to harden. Icing can be piped onto cookies with decorating bag or gun.

Can I freeze the cookies once they are decorated and once the icing is dry?

Yes, you can freeze them.  Put them in a container that seals well.  If you have a lot of cookies, you could place them single layer on a cookie sheet and freeze them, then stack them in a container with bubble wrap between the layers.

You can just add some powdered sugar to the Betty Crocker frosting. I usually add 1 lb of sugar to one cup of frosting depending on how hard to want your frosting to be you add the sugar accordingly.

my friend's sister makes $70 hourly on the internet. She has been unemployed for 9 months but last month her check was $7462 just working on the internet for a few hours. Read this site MakeCash4. com

I worked in a school where we had a "Let's Bake!" activity once a week.  Before Halloween, we baked ghosts and pumpkin sugar cookies.  My boss provided food coloring (food-dye) MARKERS and so the kids were able to actually COLOR on the cookies!!!  They really got a kick out of that, and enjoyed eating their drawings even more!!! (It was much easier for them to identify their work, especially since they could add their names if they wanted.  Lol.)

I'd never seen food coloring in the form of markers before, but I think it's a really cool way of getting kids involved in decorating their baked goods in a limited-mess-providing way!

Maybe you could try that?
