Talk about traditional family favorites, seasonal foods, party themes and throwing that next fabulous party.

Christmas Morning

Hi everyone!  I'm new here and love to cook!  Usually I'm on the taste of home chats but I come here more often now that they have chats here, too.  I love getting recipes off this site!  All of them just seem to work out great!

Anyway, I was wondering if you have any special menus/recipes you would like to share that you have on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve?  On Christmas Eve, my husband's side of the family has a soup supper and sandwiches and we open presents that night.  On Christmas Day, we usually get our two little kids up and open presents while I fix an egg bake and some homemade cinnamon rolls.  I invite my parents over Christmas morning so they can watch the grandkids open presents!

Any recipes/menus you would like to share?

How do you get to the Taste of Home Site??  I tryed tasteofhome dot com, but nothing happened.  I am looking for a recipe that came from one of their issues or possibly from a Country Woman issue??  I have tried several different "recipe" sites with no luck.

They just redid their bulletin boards.  Just go to   and it will take you where you need to go.  It will give you a list of forums and the best one is under "Recipes" to get a good response.

Whooops--it doesn't like the links does it!  LOL

Just go to:

www dot community dot tasteofhome dot com/forums/

Take out the "dots" and replace them with periods and no spaces

Thanks for the info.  I did finally manage to get there.  I was so happy Big Smile.  I have been missing a cookie recipe that came from one of their publications many years ago.  I was able to get it from  there.  I will have a VERY happy family once payday hits and I can get the final ingredient.  Other than slowness, I do enjoy their site.

For as long as I've been old enough to cook, 45 years young now, we have enjoyed having pork pie with either chow chow or mustard and salmon pies with a chopped egg and green pea white sauce over the top as a Christmas Eve supper with some lively refreshments. My mouth is watering in anticipation. HAPPY HOLIDAYS ONE AND ALL

Hi Dayna,

It's great to see how you celebrate the holidays. I live with my family near London in Great Britain but my husband and I both love American food and often spend our vacation time in America. I love the Betty Crocker website and we both enjoy tasting the recipes.

On Christmas Eve, my mother holds an open house for all of her family and friends. Children are welcome too. We have a buffet which normally includes a chill, pizza and chicken wings. We play party games such as charades and guess who.

Christmas morning my husand and I normally have smoked salmon with english muffins and my son normally has cereals or a bagel and then lunch is very traditional with turkey, roast potatoes and vegetables and lots of Christmas pudding and mince pies for dessert.

Your cinnamon rolls sound lovely and I wonder if my son would enjoy these too? Did you find the recipe on Betty Crocker or from somewhere else?

Happy Holidays!

 Fleur
