Reheating Turkey

I have to cook a 20 lb Turkey for a church event.  I'd like to cook it the day before, but am wondering how I should heat it up?  I thought I'd carve it the day I cook it, refrigerate over night, then reheat right before taking it to church.

What would be the best way to reheat, but not dry it out?

Thanks.

Mumnsti, Welcome to the siteSmile. Do you have an electric roaster or maybe your church dose? If so, I'd put it in that and bake/cook it over night. The best way that I have found to warm it up, is to put a little broth/water in with it, wrap in foil and re-heat in the oven. If you slice it first it will get drier, but whole will take longer to heat. Are you concerned about baking it in your oven over night? Granna2

Hi!

I would warm it low and slow. Here is a link that might be helpful:

If you have leftovers from the turkey, here is a page you might want to check out!

Hope it goes well!

Hello mumnstl,

This is the way I have reheated our turkey for potlucks and reunions. We also did this in school to be able to serve faster.  Bake the turkey the day before, after it's cool enough to cut,  take the skin off.  Slice the turkey and cover with the skin you have removed.  Be sure it is completely cool then cover.  Please take caution when you put the turkey in the pan, that it's cooled and all the heat is out of it before it is covered.  The next day when you are ready to heat, add about 1/2 cup or bit more to it, cover with tinfoil and heat at 325-350* I usually leave it in about 1 hour then test it.  It always seems to stay nice and moist.

I hope this helps you.
