White Candy Fantasy Clusters

There's a recipe on the December page of the Betty Crocker calendar for white candy fantasy clusters. It calls for vanilla flavored candy coating. I have never seen this product and do not know where to buy it. Can I use white chocolate instead? Has anyone made this recipe and used white chocolate? And, if so, how did it turn out? This stuff looks really good and easy.

Thanks

Hi Kuwona,

Nestle makes a product called "Premier White Baking Bar" that is intended to be melted and used for coatings, etc.  In the grocery store, it's usually located next to the chocolate chips.  Not sure where you live, but Kroger makes their own brand of the same product.  You can also try Wilton brand Candy Melts, although I don't think the flavor is as good.

Good luck!

I use almond bark.  Most grocery stores have it.  I buy it at WalMart.  It is by the chocolate chips and baking chocolate.  Here's a website with a picture of what it looks like:

Good Morning to all of you,

I've used the white chocolate chips to. I think you will have great results with all that has been mentioned above.

Let's us know how it work's.

I'm with everyone else.  I've used the Wilton melts before but the taste just isn't the same.  WalMart, dollar for dollar, is your best bet for anything baking and white chips, white bark, white melting chocolate.  You can use dark chips, milk choc chips or the bricks of melting chocolate.  It's really your best bet for taste purposes.

My daughter made these as gifts for all of us for Christmas.  She used the white chocolate chips and it worked great.  She also used peanuts instead of cashews since they don't cost as much and also because one of our friends is allergic to nuts but can eat peanuts.  I want to make them soon.

You can probably find anything you could ever want for baking, candy making or any food hobby at this site in the way of equipment, flavorings, different chocolates, or anything to do with decorating any food item. www.wineandcake.com.  This is the largest confection and equipment store that I know of on the east coast.
