ice cream cone cupcake - empty bottom ideas

I love the idea for the ice cream cone cupcakes, but it seems as though the whole bottom the cone will be empty and thrown out / wasted. Any ideas if it can be filled with something prior to turning upside down in the batter? Everything I came up with will either melt or run out when turned upside down. Thanks! I'd love to hear your ideas and vaiations.

Just talked to Karen in the Kitchens. This might be a better recipe for you?

Hello denise817,

I've made the ice cream cone cakes before and I mixed up a chocolate cake and poured right into the cone, set the cones in a cupcake pan and baked them same amount of time as a cake.  The cake was always right down to the bottom of the cone.  Frosted them and put sprinkles on and my children loved them.

Hope this helps.

Happy Thanksgiving
