Pretzel Crust Dessert

I am trying to locate a dessert that incorporates both a Graham Cracker and Pretzel Crust, cream cheese with cool whip layer and jello for the topping.

Here is the one I think that you are talking about.  I just love it....the combination of salty and sweet in the crust is wonderful.

Good luck with your dessert.

2 cups finely crushed pretzels

1/2 cup sugar, divided
2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1-1/2 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
2 Tbsp. milk
1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
2 cups boiling water
1 pkg. (8-serving size) JELL-O Brand Strawberry Flavor Gelatin
1-1/2 cups cold water
1 qt. (4 cups) strawberries, sliced

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Mix pretzel crumbs, 1/4 cup of the sugar and the butter. Press onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 10 min. Cool.
BEAT cream cheese, remaining 1/4 cup sugar and the milk until well blended. Gently stir in whipped topping. Spread over crust. Refrigerate until ready to use.
MEANWHILE, stir boiling water into dry gelatin mix in large bowl at least 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water. Refrigerate 1-1/2 hours or until thickened (spoon drawn through leaves definite impression). Stir in strawberries. Spoon over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm. Cut into squares to serve. Store leftovers in refrigerator.

This sounds really interesting! I think I may have to try it.

Do you have to use strawberry jello?

I've found with this dessert that you can use a different jello and then use the mixed frozen fruits from your local food store!!  It still turns out great!

Smile Thank you I have been looking for my copy of this recipe for awhile now. My mother used to make it and now she is gone so I wanted to continue to follow the tradition.

I am familiar with the recipe...the one I know doesn't have graham crackers in it though.  It is called Strawberry Pretzel salad.  It is a pretzel layer with cream cheese and cool whip in the middle with jello and strawberries on top.  Good luck finding it.

Hey There Paulie Girl,Big Smile

You know I am looking for it too. I have been trying to find mine for several yearsBroken Heart. A relative made it when I was little and I haven't had it since. It is similar to the pretzel salad but i do not recall jello in it.  I seem to remember it having a  graham crackers & pretzels crust, cream cheese, borden condensed milk and topped with strawberries & topped with pecans.

That's the one I had when I was little but I can't find it anywhere.. If you do find it, would you please let me know SmileI would love to have it again for my family. It's true what they say about how food makes a connection with your memories.Left HugRight Hug

I have used a form of this recipe many times, but instead of adding the cold water to the jello try substituting frozen raspberries[12oz package], it sets up quickly, finish by pouring over cream cheese mixture and refrigerate. talk about sweet and salty, you just added tart to the perfect mix, my family can not get enough. YUMMY!!!
