Bake Brownies for Bake Sale

Hello,

I'm having a bake sale at my company to support a nearby food bank.  I want to bake brownies; however, I would like to bake a lot at once.  I normally make my brownies in an 8 X 8 pan so they'll be thicker than using a 13 X 9.  Does anyone know if I could use two boxes in a 13 X 9 and if so, what the measurements on the water, egg and oil would be, the oven temp and the cooking duration?  I always buy Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie mix.

On a separate note, I've never made brownies from scratch.  I love to bake, but the mix is always so good.  Do you any of you make your brownies from scratch and prefer them to the boxed mix?

Thanks!

Homemade brownies are the best. Buy the cho. squares--- found where the cho. chips are in your store and follow the recipe on the box. Easy and very good.

I have a killer brownie recipe that I make fairly often but I still  sometimes make them from a box but I always add stuff to the batter.  Extra chocolate chips, peanutbutter, mint pattys, you name it I will try at least once to add it to a brownie.
The recipe that I have been making lately is one I found on the food network.  It is called Outrageous Brownies.  It calls for about 2 pounds of chocolate, 6 eggs, 1 pound of butter, just over 2 cups of sugar and 3 cups of walnuts.  All that with only about 1 cup of flour.  Talk about rich and decadent.  But they are wonderful.  By the way with all that it makes a 13X18 inch pan so I guess it isn't so bad when you break it down.  But getting back to the point homemade brownies are the easiest thing you can make from scratch.

Thanks, Dokajo and Mittens!  I'm going to try a batch of homemade.  I think I'm actually going to start with the Betty Crocker recipe that I have in my old cookbook.

Still, if anyone knows how combining two boxes of mix for one 13 X 9 X 2 pan works as far as measurements, temp and time and thickness, please let me know!

Just us the 2 boxes as directed and pour 3/4 of the mix into the 13x9 and in a smaller pan use the rest of the batter and either take those as well or keep them at home for you to enjoy.

Hello!  I don't know if this information is too late to help you, but when I make brownies, I make them in muffin tins.  I can make several brownies.  (Usually 12 per box of mix.)  I don't have to cut them and they are rich and fudgy on the inside.  My kids think they are the greatest and when you don't have to spend the time to cut them and make them look nice, it gives you a little time to frost them if you like.  My kids love chocolate frosting and the Reese's pieces baking chips sprinkled on top!  Yum!

Hope this helps!

Hi Baking Cat, I really like Carly's ideal. No uneven edges or sizes and no cutting, I'am going to try that, thanks.Smile
