slow cooker and dumplings

I would like to make chicken and dumplings in advance. Can I make the dumplings in the crock-pot? If so how long should they be cooked and will they break down when the dish is reheated?

Hi, @dillymac! Welcome to the community! You sure can make dumplings in your crock pot. Usually, when making slow-cooked chicken and dumplings, the dumplings are the last cooked element of the dish. For this recipe (www.bettycrocker.com/.../e0362358-fd45-43de-bcf3-7e1386837b3c), the dumplings are cooked on high for 25-30 minutes.

They should be fine to reheat but, if you want something foolproof, you might consider reheating just the chicken and broth - cooking the dumplings fresh in the mixture the day you need them. Good luck!
