Cheeseburger Pie

I found a recipe for BC Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie online and made the other night for dinner.  It was definitely quick and easy, but very bland.  I am really not a creative cook, but I can follow directions, so I need help.  I would like to have SPECIFIC variations I can add to it to make it tastier.  I did go online and got a couple of ideas but not how to adjust baking time, etc.  Can anyone give me some ideas and be SPECIFIC - thanks!

My husband loves cheeseburger pie so I make it often.  These are my suggestions.  Never omit the onion, my son hates onion but i chop them very small in the food processor and he has no idea they're in there.  NEVER substitute for the cheddar, the sharper the better!  I also add 1 cup of small curd cottage cheese.  Sometimes I add some green pepper but not very often because the kids don't like it.  Hope this helps.

Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup Original Bisquick® mix
1 cup milk
2 eggs

Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray.
In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. Stir in salt. Spread in pie plate. Sprinkle with cheese.
In small bowl, stir remaining ingredients with fork or wire whisk until blended. Pour into pie plate.
Bake about 25 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Here are some ideas to spice it up! You would not have to adjust baking time or temp.

2 cloves of garlic, minced (cook with meat and onions) or 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 to 1 tsp pepper
1-2 tsp chili powder
2-3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
4 oz can chopped green chilies (stir into cooked meat)
1/2 bell pepper, chopped (cook with meat and onions)
1 can of corn, whole kernel (drained) or creamed - stir 1/2 can in cooked meat and 1/2 can in topping

crystal, try adding 1 package of taco seansoning to the ground beef before mixing with the other ingredents. You could also add a can od drained flavored tomatoes, or salsa. Make sure it's well drained, so it won't make it runny. 1 teaspoon of chili powder could be added to the cooked hambuger, even a can of chili beans, again, well drained. Lots of luck, Granna2
