Help! Tilapia with...what sauce?

Funds are low so I'm trying to use what I've got in the kitchen. So I found some tilapia, but I want some kind of sauce with it. Like that buttery sauce you can get in nice restaurants. Is there lemon in that thing? How would I make it? Or just any ideas, anyone???

Hi..saw your note..do i just put tilapa in broiler or can i grill it ??....i prefer grilling but would like your opinion. thanks, Marilu

You could bake it, broil it or pan-fry it, but nothing beats the flavor grilling gives, does it!

Huntsville is only an hour from me and we go there quite often.  Beautiful city and great shopping.

I use Bookbinders Lonster Bisque or Crab Bisque with a little bit of fat free half and half on everything.

I make homemade tar tar sauce with, 1cup mayonaise, or miracle whip

                                                       2 drops tabasco sauce

1 or 2 tblspoons of pickle relish

1/4 cup thinly diced onion, yellow or red,  If you have paprika powder, mix some in.

Easy, inexpensive, and tastes good. Refrigerate, unused portion. Keeps well. Yes  Hope you like it as well, as my family, does.

Hey moonfever, you must have been hiding behind the door when Momma told me how to make tartar sauce. Hee, Hee! That is her recipe exactly.  I just add a good dash of garlic powder.  And of course, it has to be Miracle Whip.  Have a great day!  hugs,

moomfever, Thanks for the tar-tar recipe. I love it when I get/find recipes for sauces that are simple!. it seems like most of the T.V. cooks make it look so hard and take a lot of ingredentsConfused. Granna2

Well for my family...we absolutely love oven baked Tilapia with a little bit of Italian dressing poured over it.  Cook covered on 350.  Then cook for 15-20 minutes, till flakes with fork.  Then take some sliced mushrooms and top the fish.  Put just a little mozzerella cheese over the top and bake for 5 more minutes.  Serve with lemon wedges some multi grain rice and a salad.  Yummy!!!

If it tastes good, it's bad for you. If it tastes bad, it's good for you.

you can make foil packs  rub with lots of butter and place a lemon slice on top  the steam from the closed up pouch cooks the fish and taste great and is also very good for you it is a light tasting fish and dosnt take much to over power the taste of the fish  pluse its fuss free  try it on the grill or oven  clean up is easy toss foil in trash

Try using 4 tablespoons of butter in a sauce pan. Melt over medium heat, add 3 to 4 tablespoons of flour to create a thin paste ( a roue). Add lemon pepper seasoning. ( if you don't have that, use one tsp of lemon juice and pepper to taste. Also add a little paprika. Add 1/4 cp to 1/2 cp of warm water to create the sauce, or, if you prefer, use milk. It tastes yummy!

Hi I know this is a little to late but maybe for next time.  I had the same issue once and came up with a very nice solution.  I used foil a little olive oil then sprinkled some Italian bread crumbs at the bottom, used some salmon seasoning which was sea salt and lemon pepper, then drizzled honey over that, then put the fish on top and repeated bread crumbs, seasoning, and drizzled with honey and a few pads of butter on top of the fish.  I sealed the foil  baked it for 15 - 20 mins on 375 then open the foil and broiled for another few mins.  It was so good and moist.  I severed it on top of a bed of wild rice with a cranberry almond and bacon salad  and french bread!  It's been a hit ever since......Wink

You can always use 1 cup catsup mixed with horseradish from the bottle (  find in the deli area ) start with 1 teaspoon full plus a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and taste. We like it strong so we use a large tablespoon of horseradish for a good strong flavor. Very easy inexpensive fish seafood sauce if you like red sauce for a change from tarter sauce.
