Introduce yourself to the community!

Introduce Yourself!

Welcome to the Betty Crocker Community!

When Emily and I started an introduction thread last year, we had no idea that that we would get over 1,600 responses! Impressive!
Now, we realize that it’s difficult to talk back and forth with members with the threading we currently have in place. We’re working on it though, and hopefully soon it’ll be much easier to talk to members.

Until then, we decided to start to a category just for introductions. We really do want to talk to you!

Please start a thread and tell us more about you. Here are some things we would love to know:

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?

(2) What brings you to the community?

(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words.

(4) What kitchen appliance can you not live without?

(5) Anything else you want to share with everyone. Smile

Sincerely, Cate and Emily

Hi my name is Jean Elder-Taylor

I have actually been a member of this site for a few years now but never noticed that it had a message board and all these new personal profile additions.  Now that I know about them I am going to utilize them.  I enjoy baking and cooking and my 10 year old daughter, Hannah, enjoys learning from me.  We bake lots of sweets and she usually helps with making of meals and creating new things to eat.  I enjoy getting recipes from here and trying them on friends and family.  I really like to make new things for the holidays.  Anyhow, I just wanted to say "Hello" and let y'all know that I am here and I enjoy talking about cooking, baking, new foods, ideas, and other's  opinions and comments.  I believe that we all become who we are by those we learn from and exchange ideas with.  That's all for now,  I'll write again soon with some fabulous "STUFF".

                                                        Thank You,

Hello. I consider myself a all around kind of baker. I can bake almost anything, I even recently learned how to make a souffle. It fell but at least I tried. I don't have any specialties really. Other then making cheesecake.

I enjoy trying new things and adding my own variations on things. My quick throw togethers make some really good dinners. And others are some that even the dogs won't eat. It's always fun learning new things.

Never put off to tomorrow that you can do today.

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they? I am definitely still very new to the whole cooking thing, but have baked on and off for years. Nothing fancy, mostly cookies, cakes, and brownies, and mostly from the box! I have occasionally made things from scratch, but not often.

(2) What brings you to the community? I was looking for a good cheesecake recipe and got sucked in! :)

(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words. The only word I can think of to describe my kitchen is small!

(4) What kitchen appliance can you not live without? Everyday use: Dishwasher, not so everyday: KitchenAid Mixer

(5) Anything else you want to share with everyone.Smile I am a mom of a three year old boy and 20 month old girl. While I do like to cook and experiment with new recipes and such, time doesn't always allow! :) I am always looking for quick, easy, and healthy recipes, especially since I recently started Weight Watchers!

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?

I have been cooking and baking for very many years - actually since I was around 4 years old and I am now 62.  I absolutely love to cook.  My baking has had to change over the last 15 years since I developed celiac disease and have to be gluten free amongst some other food intolerances.  Betty Crocker has been a godsend to anyone with this disease by going mainstream with GF mixes.

(2) What brings you to the community?

Looking for additional recipes using the GF mixes.  I was always a scratch baker and not used to mixes but to scratch bake GF is extremely complicated.  Ease is better due to less stress.

(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words.

Extremely functional & efficiently arranged.

(4) What kitchen appliance can you not live without?

Oven.

(5) Anything else you want to share with everyone. Smile

I am not one that is always on websites but thrilled that this one exists.  Hoping to see more people that are gluten free here for idea exchanges.

i love to cook/bake anything, from new recipes to old family favorites. I started off just baking sweets but now enjoy cooking full scale meals as well.  My most well known and requested dishes (so far) are my lasagna, toffee surprise brownies, chess cake, beef and veggie stew, and hazelnut filled cupcakes.
(2) What brings you to the community?
new recipes and new cooking friends!
(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words.
tiny, crazy, semi-organized, crowded, aspiring.

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?

I am a simple home cook who does love to cook and bake...but, just because I prefer 'simple', does not mean that I won't tackle a gourmet recipe. I am willing to try anything...as long as I have the recipe. As for specialties...I guess I would say that whereever I go, I am usually asked to bring my simple, but delicious cheesecake. My Italian grandmother & mom were fabulous cooks and I loved being around them and learning all I could from them. They inspired my love of cooking and baking.

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?

I have been baking and cooking since I was 4 or 5, but I really started to experiment once I hit college. Most of my passions lie with baking and pastries, but I also love to cook meals for friends and family and try out different spices.  I am known for taking ingredients that appear unable to go together, and I make them work.

(2) What brings you to the community?
I have been lurking around this website for quite some time, and finally decide to sign up. I use the recipes here as my inspiration and then craft my own version of it.

(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words.

Well my husband and I are moving in about a week, so this is hard to answer right now.

(4) What kitchen appliance can you not live without?

My stand mixer. I have survived on hand washing dishes and on finding creative ways to heat stuff up (though my oven is a close second), but I quickly became tired of only having a hand mixer, then my savior arrived as a wedding present and I have never looked back.

My name is Marta and I have recently become sensitive to wheat, possibly gluten, maybe soy... still lots of ??? in this search.  I'm a basic old fashioned cook who makes most things from scratch, but Bisquick has always been a staple in my pantry so I look forward to finding the new Gluten Free version.

No specialties except now experimenting with Gluten free foods.  I have bought the Yellow cake mix and the Brownie mix but not made them yet.  The cake will be made tomorrow to use as dessert for company on Friday night topped with fresh fruit and ice cream.

Kitchen description: Center island with sink! Yes!

Appliance: Well, I thought it was my over the range built in microwave, but that died a couple of months agao and right now I can't afford to replace it so we're using the old counter top 650watt one from 15 years ago.

I am interested in new ideas for the GF Bisquick, and any other of the GF products from General Mills, and if the new GF Bisquick can be substituted for the regular on in most recipies.

Hi,

I have been a user of the site for quite a while, but today decided to get "inside" a little more. There is some very interesting stuff that I can access.

I have recently started cooking healthier for my hubby and myself (to shed unwanted pounds) and I'm following the basics of the Meditterean diet. Very simple and smaller portions of natural foods (more whole grains, veggies and fruits). It's a little more time consuming with measurements and finding the basics I needed to stock up on, but we've been applying this since the middle of May. I'm happy to say we don't feel hungry at all and it's become second nature. We've dropped some weight (would like to lose more), but it's slowly coming off Big Smile

My kitchen is small and narrow, but everything is within easy reach (pots, pans, ingredients). It's tough when my hubby wants to be in the kitchen at the same time doing his thing while I'm trying to cook or pack lunches, but we manage.

I love my Magic Bullet. It takes the chopping of veggies, nuts and other items to another level and very quickly. I can chop onions, celery, and nuts, as well as grind coffee beans. Whip up all the ingredients for an omelet - pour it in the pan, cook it. Make blended drinks, smoothies. It's the most useful thing in my kitchen and it doesn't take up a lot of space (yahoo) .

Glad to be here and I will be coming back regularly to check out the recipes, reviews, blogs and message boards.

I don't like the word "insane" to describe me, I prefer "mentally hilarious."

Hi Tammi. I am 59 yrs old. I have many Grand Children and I started all of them out when they were between 3 and 5 years old in the kitchen. I have learned this. If you want the kids to taste and eat the food that gets cooked, than have them participate. They will love the interaction with you and think the food id great even if you can't eat it. Ask them if they have any ideas with food. as silly as it may seem it may be the best recipe you ever find.

My 1st Grand Daughter said to me "Graandma, I want to make a fruit pizza". ok so at first i thought that could never happen.... then I thought about it and I asked her how she would make it.....we tried it and all the kids and adults loved it.

Happy cooking.

Hello out there! I'm brand new here and wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I'm a mother of one, 10 year old boy, and a wife to my "other child", of 12 years next month. I love cooking and baking. Christmas candy seems to be what I'm best known for around here. I start after Thanksgiving getting all my ingredients, and I pick one day, and go at it!! Family and friends are excited for the candy gifts, and my husband over the years has learned to share his candy..lol.

I'm here with hopes of meeting new friends and learning some new tricks.

My kitchen in five words, this turned out being harder than I orginally thought, but here goes it,

Warm, cozy, simple, inviting, and last but not least, fun.

I don't have one kitchen appliance I couldn't live without because I need them all. But I will say that right now I don't have a stand up mixer and I want one really bad. Hint hint my darling husband..

I grew up on a farm where most of our food was fresh. I never ate green beans out of a can until much later and hated them..still do. I love using fresh ingredients when I can, although it seems like anything healthy for you is very pricey. I'm a down-to-earth mom who loves her boys, and wouldn't trade them for anything...(except my scrapbooks)..:)Cool

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?

I will cook or bake anything especially sweets. Im told I make terrific biscuits and gravy. And honey glassed ham.

 (2) What brings you to the community?

Im really new to cooking I grew up in a large family (10) where we mostly did fast and easy meals like hamburger helper and stuff. Or we just eat out. My mom really didn't have time to cook, so it was left to me to cook, but I really never learned how to really cook, just stuff from the box. But I love being in the kitchen its really relaxing especially after a long day at work.

 (3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words.

Comforting, Colorful, chaotic but it's my sanctuary.

 (4) What kitchen appliance can you not live without?

My microwave (it's really the only one I have) but I do have a coffee maker!!! That is my must have!!!!!

 (5) Anything else you want to share with everyone

I left home and joined the Army at 18 to become a MP (Military Police) again I got in to the habit of meals from the box, and fast food due to shift work and being too tired to cook or stores being closed by the time I get off due to were I'm stationed (Germany). Now I have moved up and have a better job where I investigate specific incidences. My hours are still crazy. My goal is to get away from all the boxed foods and fast food places i.e. McDonalds Burger King ect. And I'm not just cooking for me know, I have one other. What I'm looking for is quick easy meals that don't really need any appliances but that are healthy and fun but quick due to me usually getting off about 2********* (8:00pm-11:00pm). Breakfast meals I was never really a morning person but my BF is.

If anyone has any ideas just let me know! Thank you!!!   Wink

Hi! My name is Karyn and I am from the East Texas area.  I am a mom of 2, although they are both out of the house now.  I can cook, I am looking for something different so it is not the usual everyday drudge.  I do not have any specialties.  I love Betty Crocker.  I think they can make all of their deserts sugar - free though.  There are no words for my kitchen.  If I had one that worked properly, I would say that I would not live without a stove/oven.
