My last Apple pie and cobbler were awful!

I need help! I have always made great apple pies and my last one was awful! Also  the cobbler I made a few days later! The apples didn't get done ,they were still white and actually crunchy! Ugh! I used Northern spies that I purchased at our local Apple cheese festival here in N. Pa. I don't usually use these kind ,but my Mom and Gram always did. Any ideas what I did wrong? Oven was 400 and tome was 45 min. HELP!!

Did you slice the apples to thick?

Try Granny Smith or Golden Delicious.

Perhaps next time you should pre cook apples, cool, then place in pie crust.

Good luck?

I tought the same thing, maybe these apples are more dense then what you are used to so you will need to slice them thinner.  Also, if you haven't tried the apple struesek cheescake bars you don't know what you are missing!http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes.aspx/apple-streusel-cheesecake-bars

Hi auntgail, Go to this link that CateC posted on another thread about apples:

11/12          may be the apples weren't ripe?!? If it was to juciey, thats a sign of them not being ripe. if it's a firmer apple then what you usually use, it may of needed to be baked longer or pre-cooked. Lots of luck, Granna2
