Can I add dried fruit to a mix for storage?

Hi,

I make granola bars weekly.  I'd like to know if I can make several batches of the  dried mix (oatmeal, wheat flour, walnuts and dried cranberries) and store for later use, instead of having to mix it up each week.  Does anyone know if I can store the nuts and dried cranberries in the mix of oatmeal and flour?  Or do I just need to make it fresh each week?

Thanks!

This may be a trial and error experiment.  I would make one batch and store in covered container.  Check it after one week.  Then try for two.  I know you can make several batches and store in freezer bags in the freezer.  It will keep for weeks.

I would think they could be frozen also. Just make sure to defrost before taking your first bite! Stick out tongue

If you have a chance- please let us know what you ended up doing. Sincerely, CC

Hi zephaniah, I would think that you could, it wouldn't be different from box mix. I'am nut sURe about adding the carnberries, because there might be some moisture in them that might cause mold, but on the other hand, box mixes have dried cranberries?!?  I'd try it. I make homemde baking mix and it keeps O.K. Lots of luck,granna2
