Silicone Molds

Hi all! I am trying out a new Silicone 8 cavity mold and the instructions on the package says to follow baking instructions on the cake/brownie mix, BUT there is nothing for this type of bakeware. I'm trying to surprise my husband & daughter for Valentines day so I am in need of help ASAP! Thank you Smile

Hi IrishPrincess!

Bake at the same temp as brownie or cake in metal pan.  DO NOT spray with non-stick cooking spray.  If you feel the need to grease the pans use butter or shortening.  Non-stick spray will stain the silicone.  Youj may want to check for doneness five to ten minutes sooner as I've found that most bake goods (for me anyway) get done faster than if baked in metal pans.  Happy baking!

Hi,

I just baked a brownie mix in a 6 cavity silicone mold.  I baked them on the top rack for the minimum time suggested and they were perfect.  For an 8 cavity mold, I would check them 10 minutes earlier and if not done, keep checking about every 5 minutes.  Hope this helps ... good luck with your surprise.

Hi, @IrishPrincess! Welcome to the community! As @BLT1958 suggests, only use butter, shortening, or oil in the silicone pan. Nonstick spray is recommended for some brands but this isn't universal. When it comes to baking with these pans, nothing will be the trusty toothpick test to let you know when your baked good are done. I hope this helps!
