Hi Starr1172: Did you mean something like this:

http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/grilled-korean-steak/7771d113-f11e-4201-87d8-6f6097edf8ae

or

http://www.tablespoon.com/recipes/so-simple-flank-steak-recipe/1/

  • 1/4  cup soy sauce
  • 1/4  cup water
  • 2  tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1  teaspoon sugar
  • 1  clove garlic, minced
  • 1  beef flank steak (about 1 1/4 lb)
  1. In 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag, mix all ingredients except steak. Add steak; seal bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight to marinate, turning bag once or twice.
  2. When ready to cook steak, heat gas or charcoal grill. When grill is heated, remove steak from marinade; pour marinade into measuring cup. Place steak on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill over medium coals; cover grill. Cook 15 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally and brushing with marinade, until steak are desired doneness. Discard any remaining marinade. Let steak stand on platter 5 minutes; cut diagonally across grain into slices. If desired, garnish with cherry tomatoes and red onion slices.
My dad makes this "Zip" sauce when we grill steaks.
It is a bit of a hodge-podge, but here goes.

Start with 4 oz of water. Add a beef bullion cube. Then a shake of the red pepper flakes and a shake of the peppercorns. Stir in a Tbs of A-1, a Tbs of some type of red wine and a pat of butter. I like to thicken the mess with a little Bisto, but corn starch will do. Thicken to taste. I don't like it too thick since it gets too gooey. Bring to a quick boil and then turn it back to warm.

I hope that helps or inspires. Happy Grilling!
Sincerely, Cate

Hi Starr1172!

Here's a recipe for you to try.

HOMEMADE STEAK SAUCE

1 c. catsup
1/2 c. onion, coarsely chopped
1 clove garlic
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 c. lemon juice
1/4 c. distilled white vinegar
2 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. prepared mustard

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes or until it reaches a good consistency, stirring occasionally. Cool. Strain to remove onion and garlic. Store in refrigerator. When cooked, is brown and tastes almost like A-1 sauce.
