Lawrys is always good. I have also just used my own creations. THe important thing is that there is an acid if your looking to tenderize. So, plain old bbq sauce works too

Rereading a book is like visiting an old friend.

I like to use a dry red wine (like Burgundy) with some minced garlic and thyme mixed in or just dry sherry.  I like the flavor it gives the meat as well as how it tenderizes.

I just use soy sauce, gets compliments.

Put steaks in glass cake pan, splash good with soy sauce, turn and repeat. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hrs. Turn over every 1/2 hour to make sure coated well. Grill to preferance. Can use left-over soy sauce to further moisturize or potato topping.

My question is why would you want to marinate a good steak? What I like to do is just before grilling sprinkle the meat with a little freshly ground pepper and a little garlic powder. That brings the flavor of the out. By marinading a steak your changing the flavor of the meat altogether. Why not just grill a hamburger?

The best marinate that I've ever used is McCormick Grill Mates (Montreal Steak) seasoning, plus a couple of Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce.  There's nothing better than a wonderful steak, baked potato and baked onion on the side. Of course the juice of the onion poured over the steak doesn't hurt either! ha

Here’s a family favorite. We use it on chicken and steak.

½ cup of vegetable oil
½ cup of red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
2-3 grates of black pepper
½ cup chopped cilantro

I put it all in a big Ziploc bag and marinate for 1-3 hours.

Enjoy!
Sincerely, Cate

Season liberally with Cavender's Greek Seasoning.  Put in a ziplock bag and cover with Coca-Cola.  The Cola will help to tenderize the steak.

I usually BBQ Ribeye steaks, and marinade them the night before in Fajita seasoning and orange juice.

I rub down the steaks with the fajita seasoning, lay them in a dish and then pour in about two cups of orange juice. Cover them up put then in the fridge and the next day you have tender and tasty Ribeyes.

I have to agree with modest cook.  A truly good steak shouldn't need much marinating...just a nice coating of kosher or sea salt and some freshly cracked pepper.  After the steak is done, maybe a pat of some herbed butter!  mmmmm, getting hungry for one now! Smile

hi!   I have always used some Italian dressing with a little Worcheshire sauce thrown in and a little bit a finely minced onion......make a yummy steak, or chicken!  especially if you BBQ it.

i make my own using 1 half cup olive oil, 4tbls minced garlic, 2 tsp. white vinegar leave it in ziplock bag with steaks for 3 days and grill. it is cheap and very tasty

Yes! Steak marinades! I love hearing what people use. A good friend of mine keeps a tupperware dish in his refrigerator at all times that collects leftovers from almost empty bottles of any condiment/dressing. He then uses the mixture on his steaks and it does taste very good albeit unique.

I personally like simple marinades but almost all of mine have the same base:

-Honey

-Italian dressing

-Garlic Powder

From there I'll add whatever I want to make the steak match the sides. Worcestershire works well, teriyaki is nice, and tabsco is very interesting. Ranch and most other creamy sauces don't really work but it's your job to experiment!

Kitchen gadgets make the world turn.. and my kitchen could turn it for at least a year.

I use a combination of ¼ Cup Lite Soy Sauce,  ½ Cup Teriyaki Sauce and 3 Tablespoon Water,
with a generous sprinkling of McCormick Monterey Steak seasoning.

I let it marinate anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes then I grill the meat.  It is so tender and delicious.

I hope you try it and enjoy it as much as we do.
