Need help!

I am so frustrated! I have tried everything I can think of to cut bar cookies with a hard toppings and fudge so they come out smoothe with no cracks. I have tried heating my knife, wetting it, tried many different kinds of knives. What kind of cutting tools do you use to get the effect I want?? Please help!!

You may have better luck if you cut them while the topping is still quite warm, before it hardens - or freeze them first then cut them.  It also helps to have a very sharp knife with a very thin blade.

I  lightly spray a metal pizza cutter/wheel with Pam and roll it through the cooled cookies slowly.  It works like a charm! If your pan has the nonstick finish, you might want to use a plastic/vinyl cutter sprayed with Pam. Good luck.

I agree with all of the above. One additional technique would be line your pan with foil spray the foil ,fill pan and bake as you always do . When you have finished  baking remove the product in the foil let cool some now remove the foil and place on a cutting board, I find it easier to cut into neat , clean edged bars when you can cut on a cutting board. Good Luck!

The only trick to cutting bars with chocolate topping is to do so before it becomes firm. I always cool recipes like this on the counter and then cut them into the size you want... and THEN put in fridge.  You will never be able to cut anything with a chocolate topping that has already been refrigerated because it returns the chocolate to it's original state of being very hard. Good luck!
