Dad Wants To Know

Can I make a meal that calls for a 3.5 qt. crockpot in a 6 qt. crockpot?

Hi, Crockpot Dad!

Yes, you can make your meal in a 6-quart crockpot.  It may take a little less time to cook and a little less liquid.

My suggestion is to increase your recipe by doubling the amounts called for (if the recipe call for 1/2 cup, just multiply the amount by 2; in this case, you would add 1 cup).  It may take a little experimenting to get it exactly right, but I've never had a meal I made in my crockpot that didn't come out just right.

I have both a 6-quart and a 3.5-quart crockpot.  However, since my kids are now on their own, I use my 3.5-quart crockpot almost every time I make a meal in the crockpot.  There's plenty for the two of us and enough leftovers for another meal that just needs reheated.
