Alright. I’ll go first!

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?
I’m a recent meat and potatoes girl gone vegertarian. (Though the hubby is trying to talk me into being a Flexatarian- Heh) I love the quick and easy meals on the weekdays but weekends I love taking the cookbook out and taking the time to try something new. I love to cook and bake for entertaining purposes. I’ve been far more creative with cooking than I have baking (I just stick to family classics- but hopefully the community can help me with this!) I have Polish heritage but I’m most comfortable making Mexican/Spanish meals.

(2) What brings you to the community?

My Job :D

(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words.
Updated, Open, Organized, Bright, Modern

(4) What kitchen appliance can you not live with out?
Big: Dishwasher. Little: I don’t know how I lived without my garlic press.

(5) Anything else you want to share with everyone.
Five other random facts about me:
1-    I love anything with feta in it.
2-    I love a good cup of tea.
3-    I need to fall in love with my crock-pot again.
4-    My family has raised me to think of the kitchen of the heartbeat of the house.
5-    Dirty dishes in the sink drive me nuts.

Hi! My name is Jennifer, and I am a School Psychologist. I am newly married, and have found a joy in cooking and baking.  My husband is a picky eater, so dinner is tricky.  He LOVES dessert though- so baking is my time to shine.  I love to try new recipes and share my creations with others. There's no greater feeling than passing along something you made with love, and watching others get joy out of it!

(1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?
I am a newbie! I really love baking. Because I am a newbie, I wouldn't say I have specialty yet- but I am very interested in learning any and all tips and tricks to baking, decorating, etc.

(2) What brings you to the community?

I am constantly seeking out new recipes for dinner, and goodies to bake.

(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words.

Open, Organized, Heart of the home, Contemporary, Inspiring

(4) What kitchen appliance can you not live with out?  My husband... he cleans up after my messes :)

(5) Anything else you want to share with everyone.
Five other random facts about me:
1-    I love chocolate.
2-    Baking with my mother-in-law is one of my favorite activities.
3-    I love the confidence cooking and baking give me.
4-    Nothing is better than baking some delicious goodies, and giving them away to others to enjoy.
5-   I love learning new things and experimenting. Needless to say, I am anxious to learn tips and tricks from this site!

Hello! My name is Melody :) I am 33, mom to a rambunctious 4 year old son, and wife to the absolute best husband ever! LOL :)  Life is never dull or boring around here-- I organize a local playgroup, work as a nanny for a family, take Wilton cake decorating classes, scrapbook with the girls,  and am the CFO of Domestic Affairs!  And believe me when I say, I am never short of "official tasters" for my goodies. I cook every day for my family and frequently can be found baking "a little something" for them. Baking is such a joy for me and my love for others often takes shape in layers of cake and homemade buttercream. Not to mention pies, cookies, fudge, cupcakes, and more. I am living The Sweet Life!

1) What kind of cook/baker are you? Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they?

I do have a few specialties-- my Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo, Shredded Pork  or Chicken Tacos, and Guiso de Puerco are some of my most requested dinners. I enjoy cooking and baking from scratch. I like using fresh, local ingredients. For baking, some of my specialties are my Derby Pie, Chocolate Bombe cake, Mexican wedding cookies, and my layered Strawberry & White Chocolate Cake.

2) What brings you to the community?

I am always in search of new favorite recipes. I especially like sites where others have posted reviews.  It's nice to find a community of people who enjoy baking as much as I do! :)

3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words: Bright, Cozy, Clean, Inviting, Therapeutic

4) What kitchen appliance you can't live without: Big-- my stand mixer... Little-- measuring spoons. (Cooking is a an art, Baking is a science and requires exact proportions. Unless it's vanilla-- I never measure vanilla, just go by the smell! LOL)

5) Anything else to share?

Ok, here's five random things about me:

1. I read cookbooks like people read novels.

2. I bake cakes for sale.

3. I am left handed, which presents certain challenges when decorating cakes.

4. I refuse to make a fruitcake.

5. I have a cool trick for smoothing the tops and sides of my cakes.

  1. I am a new "househusband" but have always enjoyed cooking good food from scratch.  I specialize in utilizing the food I grow, gather, and slay.  So, I'm always interested in new ways to use the fish I catch and the game I shoot which is considerable since I live in Michigan's upper peninsula.

  2. Recently purchased a new sausage stuffer for my KitchenAid mixer/grinder and need some bratwurst, Italian, and other homemade sausage recipies.  My wife joined Weight Watchers and is now obsessed with making things light and healthy.  So, I'm now desperate for ways to keep her from killing me when I serve a meal.

  3. Open, efficient, well-equipped, homey, fun.

  4. Good knives, good cookware, and my Remington 30.06!

  5. The fishing lures in my takle are lonely; will chat after sundown.

I'm a recent meat and potatoe girl gone to most chicken. My husband eats nothing but chicken so i hve had to find way to cook chicken everyday and not be the same. I love to be able to cook quick and easy but at times i like to look in the book and make something that may takea little longer. Hopefully the community can help me with different ideas on how to cook chicken meals or maybe something that has chicken in it.

I thought we could use this to talk about our favorite meals. What is yours?
6/9/2009 10:28 AM

I see you're after a good recipe for chicken and I've got a chicken casserole recipe that's excellent--it even freezes well.  Here goes:)

2 c. chopped cooked chicken (You may also use turkey in this recipe)

1 16 oz. box crushed butter flavored crackers

3-3 1/2 c. chicken broth or stock

1 c. chopped onion

2-3 stalks chopped celery

1 c. cubed cheddar cheese

1 can cream of mushroom (or celery) soup

2 eggs

Mix all ingredients well.  Mixture should be wet, but not sloppy.  Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan or 2 9x9 inch pans.  Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45-60 minutes.  If you're going to freeze one, wrap it well in foil.  It will keep for 2-3 months.

Looking forward to our next morsel together:)

I have a collection of about 500 cookbooks so chances are I havea recipe for almost anything.

My favorite kitchen appliance is my food processor.

I won't discuss my kitchen because I moved from my home to a 1 br apt. Needles to say, I have had to scale down my kitchen.

I am looking forward to meeting some new people and exchanging some great ideas and recipes.

Regards,
