Glad to be here, I think this is a great site and wish I had it when I was raising my children.  My Mom gave me my first Betty Crocker

cook book when my daughter was born in 1960.  She said you will need this & she was right .  I wore it out !  My cooking belongs in the south my grandmother taught me to cook, she was the best soulfood cooker but my stepfather was the best overall cook I have ever met.  He had a blueberry 6 layer cake to die for & I can't  find the recipe in any of his books. A box cake just dosent compare.

Hello all!!! I coming to you from Houston, Texas. Just wondered if anyone has tried making the Chili Chicken and Cornmeal Dumplings? I am having my family over (9 adults and 2 small kids), the recipe on this website feeds 8. Any suggestions on how I could make enough for everyone?

Welcome, mardimacmoo!  The recipe says it serves 6, so I would just double the recipe.

Chili Chicken with Cornmeal Dumplings 

Prep Time: 10 min
Total Time: 40 min
Makes: 6 servings 

2 cups cut-up cooked chicken
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2 cans (15 oz each) spicy chili beans in sauce, undrained
1 can (7 oz) Green Giant® Niblets® whole kernel corn, undrained
1 1/2 cups Original Bisquick® or Bisquick Heart Smart® mix
1/2 cup cornmeal
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (2 oz)

In 4-quart Dutch oven, mix chicken and tomato sauce. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in beans and corn. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low.
In medium bowl, mix Bisquick mix, cornmeal and milk until soft dough forms. Drop dough by 12 spoonfuls onto hot chili (do not drop directly into liquid). Cook uncovered over low heat 10 minutes. Cover; cook 10 minutes longer.
Sprinkle with cheese. Cover; cook about 3 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Hi, my name is joy, I have just registered here. I can cook, but I am wanting to find new receipes to try. Hello helen! I am new here and I wanted to ask a question. I want to make my husband a cherry pie, but all I have is a 8" pie pan and it has holes in the bottom. Would this work for a pie if I put this pie pan on a oven save plate or do you reccomend not to use it at all?

If you ask me, Helen, I would say invest in a new pie pan.  They're very inexpensive and you can even buy disposable ones at the grocery store.  I always use disposable pie tins when I make pies for my neighbors.  I bake a lot of different pies based on the season or if I come across a new recipe or just want to try out something new.  I try out all my new recipes on the neighbors so disposable pie tins have been a God send.
