Need a soup recipe folks!

Hi, I'm new here, I jsut signed up, I have looked high and low at other sites, and have yet to discover a regular potatoe soup, no cheese, no leeks, no shrimp, no goldfish,---made from scratch---cream, buttermilk, milk, butter, garlic, all f that is fine.  My fella wants some soup for Valentines and I haven't ever made it from scratch---I'm not intimidated, I think I know the basics, even bacon is okay---anyone have any either stove top or crock recipies?  I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks, and I'm glad I found this site!!!

Here is an easy and tasty Potato Soup recipe.  You can add crumbled bacon or ham (or anything you would like) to the soup or just keep it plain.

Garlic Potato Soup

Ingredients -

5 cloves Garlic

3 cups Chicken Stock

1 tablespoons Butter

1 chopped small Onion

1 large Potato

1/2 cup Cream

Seasoning

Preparation:

Put 1 ½ cup of stock into a small saucepan and boil the peeled garlic for 15 min, or until soft.

Remove garlic and with a low temperature reduce the stock to a concentrate.

In another saucepan, melt the butter and sauté onions until soft.

Add the remainder of the stock and potatoes to onions and cook until soft.

Once the potatoes are cooled enough, puree the potatoes then return to reheat the mixture and add the garlic and broth concentrate.

Stir in milk, cream, and salt and pepper, to taste.

3 medium potatoes (1 pound), peeled and cut up

1 cup water

1 cup finely chopped onion (1 large)

2 tablespoons chopped celery

1 teaspoon instant chicken bouillon granules

1/4 cup non-fat dry milk powder

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 cups fat-free milk

2 tablespoons snipped parsley

Directions

1. In a saucepan, combine potatoes, onion, water, celery, and bouillon granules. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover; simmer 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Mash potatoes slightly (don't drain).

2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine dry milk, flour, and pepper. Gradually add milk, stirring until smooth. Stir into potato mixture. Cook and stir until bubbly. Cook and stir for 1 minute more.
