Spagetti Sauce

Lately when I make my sauce, it has been coming out watery.  I always saute garlic in olive oil and add grated carrots, then I add a few cans of crushed tomates along with a can of tomato paste.....does any one have any idea why this is happening?  Thanks for the help !

It may depend on if you drain the tomatoes or not and how big a can of tomato paste you are using. If you don't drain your crushed tomatoes try draining all but one maybe and see how it turns out. I use 3 cans of crushed tomatoes (drained) and one small can of tomato sauce plus the tomato paste. The kids eat it up and come back for more.

I usually use two cans of tomato sauce, one can of diced tomatoes and one can of tomato paste.  I add just enough water to the cans to rinse them out,  I then let the sauce simmer on low heat for several hours after it comes to a boil.  I have also put in a small cut potato or two(peeled) which helps thicken the sauce.

Hi bubbieof2,  question for you: are you adding meat to your sauce.  If so, it may not be watery but grease from the meat.  The only other thing I can think of is maybe you have not been using the same kind of crushed tomatoes.  Each brand is a little different and I am thinking maybe one brand has too much water in their recipe.  I had another thought, ( I know, it must have been painful) maybe you should use paper towels and blot your carrots before you add them to your sauce.  Carrots just naturally have a lot of water in them.  Well, I am out of ideas.  I hope one of us was able to help you!  Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!
