What can I subsitute for veg. oil in a brownie receipe besides applesauce??

 I heard a master chef on the Today show say that a better substitute for oil than applesauce was avocado. Put it in your blender and whip it up. Everyone who tasted it said that it was absolutely delicious.  (If you're just out of oil, melt shortening or margarine. It's okay to decrease the oil and add a wee bit more water too.)

I have used plain yougart, about a cup. Keeps it moist...

Yes, lulutoro, all the things mentioned in the posts above are suggestions for substitutions for the oil in brownies.

Melted butter if you are going "full fat"

I like the greek style yogurt--(  0 fat version)-- it gives a rich flavor with out the fat of sour cream.
Experiment with any number of fruit and or vegetable purees.

It sounds yucky but mayonaise will work,but if your trying to go healthy i guess you can't use this trick.
