Circa 50's-60's Filled Cookies recipe

Family will be so disappointed if these cookies are not included on their cookie trays.  Water destroyed my red check covered Betty Crocker cookbook, and I am unable to find this recipe.  It is the rolled  Sugar Cookie recipe that had sub-recipes for  filled cookies.

in my 1956 bc cookbook they are called ethel's sugar cookies.

mix  thoroughly------3\4 cup soft shortening(part butter)

                             1 cup sugar

1\2 tsp. flavoring(vanilla or lemon or the combination of the two)

sift together and stir in---------2-1\2 cups sifted gold medal flour

                                        1 tsp. baking powder

                                        1 tsp. salt

chill at least 1 hour. roll out 1\8" thick. cut into desired shapes. place on ungreased baking sheet. sprinkle with sugar if desired. bake until golden brown. temperature: 400 degrees, time: bake 6 to 8 min., amount: about 4 doz. 3" cookies

filled sugar cookies-follow recipe above--except put together in pairs before baking with 1 tsp. date, fig or raisin filling or a solid chocolate mint wafer between. press edges together with tines of fork.  if you need the filling recipes let me know.

i hope this is the recipe you need.

Were you thinking of the tea cookies or tea party cookies?  They were rolled but were very fragile.  after cutting out they were pricked with a fork, then baked, when cooled you would frost them and put them together.  I loved those so much.  I would use red and green frosting for Christmas and pastels for Easter.  Yummy!
