Google "canning jar gifts" and you will get an amazing list.

A few years ago I was given a book as a gift that I think may be helpful to you. The title is Gifts in a Jar,  One Dish Meals

(Recipes to make your own gifts). There is no author listed,  but it was published by G&R Publishing Distributed by CQProducts of Waverly, IA. The Copyright is  2002 C Q Products Waverly, IA.  There is also an Item number listed which is   #3007. Along with brief directions for decorating the jars are various recipes for mixes ranging from Lasagna and Soup to Pancakes. What I really like about this book is that they include about 3 recipe cards per mix to cut out and attach so  the recipient can prepare the gift properly. By the way, I think it is wonderful that you and your step son are undertaking this project for his mother and grandma together.

hi- how about layering the ingredients for a batch of cookies in a quart mason jar and decorating the outside with typed directions for the cookies and a ribbon?  just a thought- good luck.

I use canning jars to make my candles in. you can also make up a potpourri mix that is colorful and smells good. Visit any craft store for supplies for this craft.

If you find a recipe for hot pepper Jelly .(which is not that hot) on line there are a lot of them. You can get some fancy canning jars and decorate them with ribbon and holiday materal (found in sewing stores) sometimes they have small remnents. you can cut it with pinking shears or just round it off  with regular shears and put it  under the out side rim of the jar  and put the ribbon around the outside of the jar. Get a basket and buy some Trisket crackers or your choice  and some cream cheese and a small spreading knife put it all in tthe basket and there you have it. This is a great gift for the Holiday time because they can eat right away or use it for company. Good Luck.

Yesterday my 4 year old wanted to make chocolate cake in the microwave.  I searched "microwave chocolate cake recipes" and found one that is made in a large coffee cup.  It tastes pretty good.  I was thinking of using this as a gift for my friends at Christmas.
