salisbury steak

I received a new betty crocker cookbook in 1990. There was a recipe in there for salisbury steak, that is not now in the current books and I have been trying to duplicate that old recipe by memory with no success. I know it had you making hamburger patties, then using corn starch and water to thicken up the onion mushroom topping. Can you help?

Hope this is the one you are looking for.  My book is copyrighted 1986.

1 lb ground beef

1/3 cup dry bread crumbs

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1 egg

1 lg. onion sliced

1 can ( oz) condensed beef broth

1 can (4oz) mushroom stems and pieces drained

2 tablespoons cold water

2 teaspoons cornstarch

mix first 5 ingredients and shape into 4 ovals about 3/4 inch thick.  cook in 10-inch skillet over medium heat turning occasionally, until brown.  Drain.  Add onion, broth and mushrooms.  Heat to boiling; reduce heat.  Cover and simmer until beef is done; about 10 minutes.

Remove patties; keep warm.  Heat onion mixture to boiling.  Mix water and cornstarch; stir into onion mixture.  Boil and stir one minute.

I am so glad this recipe was posted, I have been looking for so long for this recipe because I lost my old recipe book that use to have this recipe in it and it make the best salisbury patties, but I do have one more question. How many ounces of beef broth does the recipe call for?

I would say the whole soup can would be used and they usually are 10 oz.
