White Wine Worcestersire Sauce

Hello everyone, I have a recipe that call for "White Wine Worcestershire Sauce" I have nver heard of it before. I can't seem to find it at the grocery stores either. When I ask an employee about it they look at me with a question mark. Anybody ever use it? If so where do you buy it?

So happy to see you back on the boards! Hope all is well with you. Smile So, to be honest, I had to google the above to get a better understanding of what it was. It looks like you can buy it off of amazon.com

I ended up talking to Andi in the Kitchens and asked her if she has ever used it. Her response was this:

I have a bottle of that in my cupboard but never think to use it. I don't know how it is made, but the idea behind it was to add it to light colored sauces and have them not turn an ugly grey color. Many cheese sauces like "rarebit" usually have a little Worcestershire sauce in them for example. It tastes the same as the dark sauce.

Let us know if you end up cooking with it... Now that I know about it I'll look for it also in my supermarkets.

I think this was first sold as White Wine Worcestershire Sauce, but Lea&Perrins changed the name to Marinade for Chicken. Look again in your store for it and maybe it will be next to the regular sauce. Good Luck!

You are correct.  For many years, I have used both the White Wine Worchestershire Sauce, especially when chicken was involved and the original.  However, in the last 6 years or so I saw the White Wine sauce was no longer availabe but the Marinade for Chicken seem to replace it on store shelves.  Although the ingredients in both begin with Sauterne Wine, the rest are slightly different and the label for Marinade for Chicken only refers to marinades, while the original gave recipes without marinades, which makes me wonder!
