1976? recipe card library

Can anyone help me?  I think it was in 1976 I had the recipe card box and in it was a recipe for a side dish that had broccoli, chinese celery or chinese cabbage in it as well as onions.  I misplaced my recipe for it and I want to make it as one of my side dishes for Christmas dinner.  I think the recipe is called broccoli and chines cabbage but I'm not sure.  Thanks for your help.  Karen krw7707

I have just joined this web page and came across your request.  Have you found the recipe yet?  I think I have the same recipe box that you probably have.  That is the reason why I came here too, I am looking for a recipe that was once in my recipe box but is now gone.  It was for Zippy Beef Casserole.  It had hamburger, noodles, cream of mushroom soup, ketchup, milk, minced onions and green peppers in it and then you crushed potato chips on the top of it.  Do you have this recipe.  I will look in my recipe box to see if I can find the recipe you are searching for.  Thanks so much.

From The Betty Crocker Recipe Card Library, Copyright 1971:

Zippy Beef Casserole

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 4 oz. uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 can (10-1/2 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 2/3 c. catsup
  • 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese (about 2 oz.)
  • 1/4 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. instant minced onion
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. crushed potato chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Cook and stir meat until brown.  Drain off fat.  Cook macaroni as directed on package; drain.  In ungreased 2-quart casserole, mix all ingredients except potato chips.

Cover; bake 40 minutes.  Uncover; sprinkle with potato chips and bake 5 minutes longer.

Yield:  4 to 6 servings

WOW - I may have found what I am looling for.  I am missing 1 recipe as well.  I used to make it all the time, which is why I probably lost it.  Anyway - if this is the same card file that I have - it has a recipe for Banana Nut Cookies.  Does anyone have this?

These are the only banana cookies I found

Banana Spice Cookies

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 cup mashed banana

2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon cloves

1/2 chopped nuts

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and banana. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover; chill about 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes; cool. Frost with lemon Butter Icing.

Lemon Butter Icing

1/3 cup soft butter or margerine

3 cups confectioners' sugar

About 2 Tablespoons lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel

Blend butter and sugar; stir in lemon juice and peel. Beat until smooth and of spreading consistency.

There is also a receipe for a browned butter icing. Let me know if you need that too.

My request is from the 1971 BC Recipe Card Library, so I'm not sure that the recipe that I'm missing would even be in with yours.  It is for Beef Foil-Wrapped Dinners under the Budget Casseroles section.  If someone would be nice enough to take the time to look for this, I'd really appreciate it very much. Thank you.

I was wondering if you also had the recipe card for the Saucy Twist Pork Dish?

4/23/2008 2:49 PM

I have this receipe. I am looking for a receipe from that collection called NEW PORT BEEF CASSEROLE? or something like that. It had ground beef, spinach and shell pasta in it.

Saucy Twist Pork Dish

4 ounces uncooked corkscrew-shaped macaroni

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1/3 cup chopped green pepper

1 Tablespoon butter or margerine

1 can (12 ounces) pork luncheon meat, cut into cubes

1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup catsup

1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cook macaroni as directed on package: drain. In large skillet cook and stir onion and green pepper in butter until onion is tender. Stir in macaroni and remainting ingredients. Pour into greased cassarole. Cover; bake 30 minutes.

Does anyone have a recipe for oven baked ribs?  It was from the recipe cards in the orange and green boxes.  It was called Saturday Night Supper or Stormy Night Supper.  I believe the bbq sause had ketsup in it.  Thanks for the help.

I have it!

GLAZED SPARERIBS

4 pounds spareribs*

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 envelope (.7 oz) onion salad dressing mix

1/4 cup vinegar

1/4 cup light molasses

2 tablespoons salad oil

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1 cup water

Place spareribs meaty side up in open shallow roasting pan.  In small saucepan, heat remaining ingredients to boiling, stirring constantly.  Boil and stir 3 minutes.  Pour sauce mixture over spareribs.  Roast uncovered 1 1/2 hours or until done, basting ribs 2 or 3 times.

*Port back ribs or country-style ribs can be used.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I haven't been on here for a long time.  Thank you so much for the recipe.  If you haven't tried it, you might want to.  It's very good.  I'm also looking for the recipe for cabbage with cream cheese.  Do you have that one as well?  I've also been looking for the recipe for chocolate cherry drops.  Chocolate cookies with maraschino cherries and white icing.  I think those recipes are from the same box.  Maybe the white box?  I sure do appreciate your help.  Thank you, Karen
