Chocolate Pudding recipe

I used to make a chocolate pudding recipe from a Betty Crocker children's cookbook back in the early 80's late 70's.  I can't find the cookbook or recipe anywhere.  It was the best one I've ever made and it was sooooo easy.  Please help!

Do you remember any details of the recipe (ingredients or instructions) that make it different from other chocolate pudding recipes? Did it use cornstarch or eggs? What type of chocolate did it use, unsweetened or sweetened? More details will help us find the recipe you are looking for.

I know it used cocoa powder (unsweetened) and the ingredients were shown in hand drawn pictures on the page.  It was a spiral bound children's cookbook.  That's really all I can remember.  Any help you can give is greatly appreciated!

Chocolate Cream Pudding

1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt in 2-quart saucepan.  Stir in milk gradually.  Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.  Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir at least half of the hot mixture gradually into egg yolks.  Blend into hot mixture in saucepan.  Boil and stir 1 minute.  Remove from heat; stir in margarine and vanilla.  Pour into 4 dessert dishes. Cool slightly; refrigerate. 4 servings.

Thanks for the recipe, but the one I used didn't have eggs.  Any ideas?

From the 1956 Betty Crocker Cookbook

Chocolate Blanc Mange (Cornstarch Pudding)

Mix in saucepan ...

- 2/3 cup sugar

- 1/3 cup cocoa with sugar

- 3 tbsp cornstarch

- 1/4 tsp salt

Stir in gradually ...

- 2-1/4 cups milk

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly,

until mixture boils. Boil 1 minute.

Remove from heat.

Blend in ...

- 1-1/2 tsp vanilla

Chill. Serve with whipped cream.

Delicious, too, served warm topped with

vanilla ice cream.

Amount: 4 to 6 servings.
