Can you be more specific? Are they drop cookies or rolled cookies or no-bake cookies? Do they contain flour or rolled oats or both or neither? What else might be in them? Coconut? Raisins? Chocolate chips? A quick Google on "manhole cookies" doesn't turn up anything useful.

Yes, we called them haystacks years ago, but not the ones using butterscotch or peanut butter.  I remember:  Oats, Coconut, Chocolate Chips, and ???? not sure what else or any of the amounts?  There was no flour or baking.

I also added to the original recipe a few years ago dried cranberries-good.

Hi,

I have a recipe for Manhole cookies.  My mother-in-law had the recipe and my husband loves these.

7/8 C Vegi oil

1 C white sugar

1 C brown sugar

1 1/2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

1 C flour

2 eggs

1 C wheat germ

1 C cocanut

1 1/2 C oatmeal

Combine ingredients, shape dough into golf ball size balls, punch small hole in center of each and Bake at 375 for approx 15 minutes or until they are no longer gooey.

I hope this is the one you are looking for.
