I'm sure this probably isn't the recipe you're looking for
; I tried looking in my mom's old Betty Crocker cookbook. Someone tore out the page with the brownie recipe on it. This one is from another cookbook that I have.
FUDGE BROWNIES
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Heat oven to 350. In medium saucepan melt butter and chocolate. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar. Blend in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla. Add flour and mix well. Stir in nuts. Spread in greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERBAKE. Cool and cut into squares.
This makes a soft, chewy brownie, not cake-like. Hope this helps you. You can ice them with powdered sugar frosting if you like.
