Brownies: Need a recipie from my lost book

I am also looking for a recipe for brownies.  My mother and I made brownies using, I believe, a Betty Crocker cookbook approximately 57 years ago.  The brownies were more the consistency of a cookie than the cake-like brownies of today.  They were delicious with a thin layer of powdered sugar frosting.

I hope someone can help me.  I have been searching the internet for the recipe and haven't had any luck.

Any idea what the brownie recipe was called? Sincerely, CC

I'm sure this probably isn't the recipe you're looking forTongue Tied; I tried looking in my mom's old Betty Crocker cookbook.  Someone tore out the page with the brownie recipe on it.  This one is from another cookbook that I have.

FUDGE BROWNIES

1/2 c. butter or margarine

1 c. granulated sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

2 eggs

2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted

3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour

1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Heat oven to 350.  In medium saucepan melt butter and chocolate.  Remove from heat.  Stir in sugar.  Blend in eggs one at a time.  Stir in vanilla.  Add flour and mix well.  Stir in nuts.  Spread in greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan.  Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.  BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERBAKE.  Cool and cut into squares.

This makes a soft, chewy brownie, not cake-like.  Hope this helps you.  You can ice them with powdered sugar frosting if you like.Wink

Looking forward to our next morsel together:)
