Betty Crocker Coffe Maker Started on Fire

We purchased a Betty Crocker 10 cup coffee maker 4-5 years ago and it has operated fantastic.  It has the insulated stainless pot, which we love.

Last week while making our usual pot of coffee, I returned to get a cup and found our Betty Crocker coffee maker physically on fire.  I am talking 1-2 inch actual flames near the base plate.  I have contacted Betty Crocker offering it for analysis and product safety research but they have no interest.  I was surprised.

Has anyone else had their coffee pot starting on fire?
