Betty Crocker SUCKS!

For all of you like me who are dissappointed by the reduction of the brownie products, let me inform you that the marketing team will NOT go back. So don't loose your time trying to persuade them for better/fair bussiness in this forum website.

They are not taking our concerns in a fair manner so we loyal costumer should not longer be so. If a company doesn't take us seriously then we don't have to take a mediocre product as substitute. We deserve better.

So I hope this company loose more costumers (wich already is) and those who still are buying this will make up their minds and reflect on what FAIR BUSSINESS is all about.

Hi S7eerpikez:

Sorry to read about your disappointment in the brownie re-size. Though I haven’t heard about any future changes in this product— comments like yours are being shared with the team.

Thank you again, for taking the time to join the community to tell us what’s really on your mind.

Sincerely, Cate

Hi all!

This is just an FYI.  ALL brownie-mix manufacturers have downsized their products by the same amount as the Betty Crocker mixes have been downsized.  Other name-brands, store-brands, are all smaller now.  I checked all my local grocery stores to be sure.  We all need to try scratch-baking more often.  It is not that time-consuming if you are organized.  Happy baking!

Can you tell me why the  Old El Paso enchilada sauce used to be the best and now so water down it has no flavor. I Cater and for years used this to make enchiladas for partys and last time it was horriable. I really think Betty Crocker is try to make more money but consumers are NOT STUPIED. I already found another product thats great and to my surprise was cheaper. I had to. So goodbye Betty Crocker

This is a pretty old post but I still feel like putting in my oppinion.  I could honestly care less about the whole resizing thing, I dont have kids so am not feeding a family.  But what I do have a problem with, and I'm not sure if this has always been the case, BUT BETTY CROCKER BROWNIES ARE TASTELESS, DRY, AND THE "FUDGE" BROWNIES HAVE NO TASTE OF FUDGE IN THE LEASE!!!!  I usually buy duncan hines but was at cvs and all they had was Betty Crocker so I went with that.  I WILL NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN.  I just ended up throwing out the whole batch after eating half a brownie.  Not sure why they have no taste but and if this is a new thing or not but if its not then I have no idea how they have been able to sell their brownie mix for as long as they have.  From now on I am only going wiht Duncan Hines.

I have to agree with S7eerpikez sentiment.  Everywhere, on every product across the board, the portions are becoming smaller but the prices remain the same.  It is the companies' way of raising the price per ounce without changing the price per item.  The majority doesn't feel the price increase and every one is happy.

Meh, sorry Cate but that doesn't convince me. Seems to me that all our commehts are mere gossip. The marketing team opens one ear just to left open the other one as well. Nothing will be done so I don't see what this "shared with the team" is all about.

BLT1958...

Yes is true that all brands are getting smaller but there are some that still have enough product to sustain a reasonable size baking pan. That is in fact what I'm willing to pay... not a ridiculous small substitute BC product. Simply outrageous.

I hope people would read this and try other brands or even bake from scratch (though time consumming).

Betty Crocker, you have dissapointed many loyal costumers. Good ridance.

You know, there are a lot of small households in the country. My preferred brownie recipe has always been one baked in an 8x8 pan, and I've been baking it (scratch) since 1972. If I needed more, I baked 2 batches. It's a whole lot less wasteful to bake 2 small batches when you need a lot of brownies than to always make a 9x13 pan full of brownies and throw half of them away. People also don't know how large a proper serving size is, either. I cut that 8x8 pan into 12 brownies, not the 9 or even 6 some people would cut it into.

Hi S7eerpikez!

Try this recipe.  You'll never go back to a mix.  I haven't used a mix in quite some time as scratch-made brownies taste so much better and don't take that much extra time.  I mix this in the large bowl I microwave the butter and chocolate.  Be sure to check the temperature of the butter mixture after adding the sugar before adding the eggs The mixture does not have to be cold, just cooled off enough to keep the eggs from cooking when added.  Enjoy!

Double Chocolate Bubble Brownies

Ingredients

4 square(s) unsweetened baking chocolate square(s)
1 cup(s) butter
2 Tbsp sugar
  4 large egg(s)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup(s) all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp table salt
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
8 oz Jet-Puffed Confections Miniature marshmallows

Instructions

Melt chocolate with butter. Add sugar. Cool mixture. Add eggs, beating in one at a time. Add vanilla, flour and salt. Mix until well blended. Fold in chocolate chips and marshmallows. Pour into greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. The surface will be bubbly from the rising marshmallows. Cut cooled bars into 24 squares.

Hi all!

Sorry about th HUGE gap between the "Ingredients" heading and the actual ingredient list.  I tried to edit this and the website freaked.  By the way, the Double Chocolate Bubble Brownies, as written, have only 6 Weight Watchers PointsPlus value per serving.  I make these occasionally and have lost over 50 pounds on Weight Watchers.  Don't fear the brownie, embrace it.  Happy baking!

Fixed it BLT. Smile

Thanks Cate!

For some reason I can't edit a post any longer.  I don't know what's changed.  I use Firefox as my internet explorer.  I'm on Windows 7.  Nothing has changed on my side.  Be sure to give this recipe a try.  They look a little odd but they taste great.  Don't overbake them either.  Happy New Year!

Angry I must agree that the portion sizes continue to shrink with the prices continuously moving higher, does anyone notice that nearly all the Hamburger Helper meals now require about two cups of milk.  I feel that Betty Crocker is shifting the balance back onto the consumer with little justification.  I want a simple meal to make that requires only the meat to be added; next they'll make you add the noodles on your own (which I do anyway, as the portion sizes have plunged).

Just for information we all need to observe the downsizing and make informed decisions about what we should purchase. Ice cream pints are now 14 oz. not 16 oz . The toilet paper rolls are smaller with less paper , same with paper towels. Every item you purchase has been downsized. Sometimes you will find a product from a different company that is still a larger size for equal or less money. Wise shopping needs to be our guide or as someone suggested make it from scratch because it is usually cheaper that way in the long run. Betty Crocker/General Mills products are not unique when it comes to changing sizes, we just need to be wise and careful shoppers. In this day and age, every penny counts !!

1/24/2011 10:16 PM

Every company is cutting its sizing portions, not just Betty Crocker! Next time you go to the store... check out the icecream.. It's 1/3 of the size and 15% hire in purchase price...

I remember learning about "hidden inflation" in college in the 70's.  It's not anything new, and it's not just one product or one company.  We just have to be informed consumers and make the best choices for ourselves and our families.
