Update Bisquik

With all the emphasis on healthy diets and reducing the use of "processed" products, when is Bisquik going to have a whole grain or whole wheat version? I love the recipes and learned to cook with Betty Crocker recipes back in the 50s, but I don't use it as much anymore.  However, I would LOVE to have an updated whole wheat or multigrain version.

Hi Conejoqueen! Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about Bisquick. Have you seen the Heart Smart variety of Bisquick? It's low in fat and naturally cholesterol free. You can visit the Bisquick page to learn more about it: http://www.bettycrocker.com/products/bisquick/Story.aspx

Aside from the latest gluten-free Bisquick product launch, we haven't heard of any other new varieties that are in the works. But we'll be sure to share your comments regarding a whole wheat Bisquick with the team. When you have time, feel free to call Consumer Services to also share your feedback with them: 1-800-248-7310 between (7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. CT, weekdays) Sincerely, Emily

The problem with a genuinely whole-grain/whole wheat version of Bisquick is shelf stability. A whole grain Bisquick would need to be kept refrigerated, or the oils in the germ will go rancid. Omit the germ, and it's not whole wheat anymore. While this is not an insurmountable problem for Betty Crocker, it does mean that creating and distributing such a product would not be a trivial project.

When you mention the "latest gluten-free product launch" of Bisquick I sure hope that does not mean we are loosing the original Bisquick???  Please not the same fiasco as with the Potato Buds??!!

Hi Sasch, no the Original Bisquick has not been reformulated. The Gluten-Free Bisquick was an addition to the product line. You can visit the product page to learn more about it! http://www.bettycrocker.com/products/bisquick/Story.aspx Sincerely, Emily

Thank you Emily!  I had just found the answer on another recent thread, so glad General Mill's/Betty Crocker is doing this one right and giving customers a choice!
