Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix

To anyone that has tried the GF Yellow Cake Mix, I have a question.  I'm going to be using this cake mix for the first time in an apple bread recipe.  For the normal, non-GF recipe, it calls for oil to be added to the cake mix and instead of adding oil, most people suggest adding Applesauce, which makes it less fattening and of course gives it a richer apple taste.

Now, I'm curious that since the Betty Crocker GF Yellow Cake Mix does NOT call for oil, but calls for water, if I should I replace the entire amount of water with applesauce?  Should I do half and half?  Should I keep the water suggestion and merely add a 1/3 cup of applesauce to the recipe?  Any thoughts for those who have experience with this mix would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks so much!!

Hi Kim,

I made the gf yellow cake as is, just frosting it with a homemade chocolate buttercream, and I found the cake a little crumbly. I would think that going with all applesauce would make for a very moist and apple-y bread. Let us know how it turns out. I hope that helps.
