Hamburger Helper Cheeseburger Macaroni

Oh Betty, what have you done to our favorite HH recipe?  It's AWFUL now.  It used to be a delicious, quick family meal, but then you changed the shape and size of the noodle, you changed the amount in the box, and now you've changed the cheese.  It's now very non-cheesy, and very YUCKY.  We even tried the double cheeseburger macaroni, thinking it would be a little cheesier, but it is also YUCKY.  Please change it back!   Don't do that to us poor, unsuspecting customers who now have to figure out a way to make it from scratch.  We miss it.

I've always topped this flavor off with a bit of my own cheese.  Maybe trying that will help.

They changed the noodles, etc. on their stroganoff as well, which we don't care for as much, so now I just buy the generic of that flavor.  It tastes the same and has the noodles we like.  Smile

My ten year old grandson loves all of the hamburger helperproducts.  I am horrified to see the amount of sodium in these products. Please is this necessary. I can not feed him these products no matter how much he loves them. Can you reduce the sodium and we can all be happy?

I agree both new cheeseburger macs are not good. I have been loving CM for years, and the new macaroni is too large

change it back. The cheese pac is not cheesy. Please, please go back to the old recipe.

I have contacted them by e-mail and their response to me is that the changes were made to satisfy customer desire...

I'm not sure that the customer desires these new big mushy noodles and cheese that don't melt properly...

This used to be one of my quick favs too...

It's a shame...Sad

I agree the new CM is terrible.  I used to buy the generic brands CM but they have now changed over to the new formula with the extra large noodles.  Please bring back the orignal recipe!!!

There's an old saying: "If it aint broke don't FIX it!  They did this to line their pockets more (Huge disgusting noodles, In this case ("sold by volume, not by weight"). not the same flavor( YUK)! etc.Made in China?

I still have a box in my cupboard that I refuse to touch. My dog did'nt even eat it! And I can't bring myself to give it to a food bank either. They've been doing this to all kinds and brands for some time now. I will never buy HH again!

RHall: We will NEVER be able to "figure out" how to make it from scratch because the average household does not have access to all those chemicals they put in it to make it taste the way it does.(secret ingredients) lol..

I took a couple bites out it and threw the the whole pan of it in the garbage. I wonder if the people who make this, eats it..NOT!

You can indeed make your own hamburger helper. I keep some on my shelf all the time. I make it because I am diabetic, and need to use special slow-metabolizing pasta, and a bit less of it than the commercial HH uses. It's nice, though, to control the amount of sodium. I started out using the recipes here: http://chickensintheroad.com/cooking/homemade-hamburger-helper/. I won't make it a link, because clicking on a link gives you a scary "member-posted link! Danger, Will Robinson! " message. So just copy and paste it, and see if you too can substitute home made HH if you dislike the altered Betty Crocker recipes. You can tweak the seasonings a bit too, to get just the flavor you want.
