Cooking & Baking with Kids

From breakfast to dinner and lunchboxes to kid-friendly snacks. How do you keep it fun for kids in the kitchen?

Keep it Simple and Fun

I love to cook with the neighborhood children. This year a neighborhood Mom asked if her daughter could come make cookies with me for Christmas. ( Her Mom has some health challenges.) What fun. We made gingerbread men . The kitchen was full of endless decorations to use and we "created" our own frostings mixing lots of different colors. We didin't use all of them but what fun !! We are looking forward to Valentines Day so we can "experiment " again in the kitchen making decorated heart cookies. We are both excited. I think having lots of different decorations on hand is a key to having fun and remembering the not every product has to be perfect.

Hi, @jmo23! Sounds like you have a strong neighborhood! You've definitely got some good points. The more frosting, the better. And products don't have to turn out perfectly, especially when you're baking with kids. Most will still taste good and, no matter what, you'll have an awesome time baking with a friend! Have fun with your Valentine's Day cookies!
