Cooking & Baking with Kids

From breakfast to dinner and lunchboxes to kid-friendly snacks. How do you keep it fun for kids in the kitchen?

Betty is making Back-to-School time easier…

What is your favorite tip that makes back to school a breeze for you and your family?

Every school year brings new strategies and tricks to help us get through the daily grind. One subject that seems to come up again and again is Lunch ideas. Betty is making Back to School time easier with tips like how to build a balanced lunch and keep it interesting, how to keep food fresh and how to save some money!

When putting a lunch together, make sure you include protein! It stays in the stomach longer and helps slow digestion to keep kids from getting too hungry or tired before they get home. Good sources of protein include meat, cheese, yogurt and peanut butter. Try this Turkey Bacon and Guacamole Wrap:

Lunches left at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours are a prime target for food poisoning.  Reduce this risk by keeping food properly chilled. Freeze foods, such as juices, PB&J sandwiches and Go-Gurt™ yogurt.  They will thaw by lunchtime and help keep other foods cold.

Use an insulated lunch tote like these Veggie Totes from Rachael Ray to keep food properly chilled:

You’re already packing the kids’ lunches, why not save some money by packing yourself a lunch! Eating out during the workweek might not seem like a big deal, but over time, all those takeout receipts can add up to some serious lunch money. Pack yourself a lunch (leftovers make a great lunch!) and skip having to pay for tax and tip!

Don't forget to check out Betty’s monthly coupons to help you save $1 (or more!) on great components for your bag lunch:

While you’re saving all this money, you can actually help raise money for your child’s school. Make sure to clip and save all your Box Tops for Education and don’t miss your chance to win 500,000 bonus box tops for your school:
